What's Going On in Boston and Montreal - and Vermont? ... Chasing Winter's Blues Away

Opera Insights with Tim Tavcar

Winter 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 ...  Montpelier, Vermont.

Opera Insights with Tim Tavcar  is an on-going series of informal and informative opera evenings. Each event in the series features some three operas that are being produced by opera companies in Montreal, Boston, and locally in Vermont and are attended by many Central Vermont opera fans.

The audience, aficionados and opera amateurs alike, enjoys stage director and actor Tim Tavcar's informative and entertaining "juicy tidbits" about the composer, historic productions and celebrated performers, illustrated with video and audio clips.  The evenings end with a mini-concert of selections from the featured operas performed by local artists.

In 2009 the January talks & concerts covered The Nose (Shostakovich),  Rusalka (Dvorak), and Macbeth  (Verdi); in the April performances the featured operas were Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti, The Bartered Bride by Smetana, and The Coronation of Poppea by Monteverdi.

Many of the area's fine singers have taken part in the last four years;  our pianist "orchestra" since the beginning has been Eliza Thomas.
